With nearly twenty years of experience in monitoring tasks and structures, we tested with great interest in real-world photogrammetry methods for measuring crack width. For a year of work, we managed to find our niche for the use of photo slit meters: when electronic sensors are redundant and expensive, and simple "scale" devices do not have sufficient accuracy and are not very informative. The low cost of the "starter kit" is very attractive, which allows starting monitoring with minimal costs both for the customer and for the surveyors.
